L’idée de créer un institut des Langues Vivantes est née en 1958, sous forme de cours du soir en langue anglaise, d’où l’appellation d’origine « Bourguiba School ». Ces cours étaient organisés par le Centre Culturel Américain dans l’actuel Tunisia Palace et ce,jusqu’en 1960.
A partir de 1960, une tunisification progressive de Bourguiba School s’est faite, tant au niveau du financement qu’au niveau de la direction et des programmes.
L 448 / 5 000 The idea of creating a Modern Languages Institute was born in 1958, in the form of evening classes in English, hence the original name "Bourguiba School." These classes were organized by the American Cultural Center in the current Tunisia Palace until 1960.
From 1960, a progressive Tunisification of Bourguiba School took place, both in terms of financing and in terms of management and programs.
Created in 1999-2000, the Library of the Bourguiba Institute of Modern Languages has grown over the years to now offer a collection of more than 10,000 volumes, classified by language and theme, demonstrating continuous growth supported by a constantly evolving budget.
